The Canadian Staff Band of the Salvation Army presents...

A Gospel Gala with Doc Severinsen

Happening in the George Weston Recital Hall

World-renowned trumpet player, Doc Severinsen, makes his Toronto appearance performing gospel charts with the Canadian Staff Band, the premier band of The Salvation Army for the Army’s Canada and Bermuda Territory.  Doc’s trumpet skills, as alive and refined today as when he toured with the Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman bands in the late 1940’s, continue to excite audiences wherever he travels.  With a career spanning eight decades, including performing with leading musicians of classical, jazz, big band, and now even world music, Doc has pleased music fans all over the world.  Since his departure in 1992 from his 25 years as the Music Director for The Tonight Show, Doc Severinsen has continued to tour, record, and share his love of music.

Doc joins the Canadian Staff Band of The Salvation Army for its 49th Anniversary program.  For nearly half a century, the band has performed in concerts, church services and parades in their home territory and around the world as well as produced many recordings. Under the leadership of Bandmaster John Lam, the band has joined with renowned musicians and is now thrilled to partner with Doc Severinsen for this one-time concert to remember.  With Doc’s musical flair and the band’s impressive way of presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ, this is a cooperative musical adventure not to be missed.
