Civic Theatres Toronto opens its doors to the community by providing free multi-disciplinary arts programming in our versatile spaces. We invite you to join us for an exciting season where you’ll have the opportunity to engage with the arts through education, creation, and movement. 

School Programs
Through a partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Civic Theatres Toronto offers SHSM certifications. High School Students from all corners of Southern Ontario have earned an Arts and Culture credit through workshops at the Sony Centre. St. Lawrence Centre or Toronto Centre for the Arts.  

School Matinee Performances - Civic Theatres Toronto is proud to offer School Matinees! These performances are designed specifically for schools and are intended to support the Ontario Curriculum through engaging live performances and complementary Study Guides.

SHSM Arts & Culture Certification Workshops - Through a partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Civic Theatres Toronto offers SHSM certifications. Discover Dance 
These special lunch-hour presentations, hosted by the award-winning choreographer Nova Bhattacharya, are free and for all ages. Through demonstrations, performance, and conversation, we will discover how dance forms from all over the world are being woven into Toronto’s cultural scene.

Open Art Surgery
Following two hugely successful editions in 2014 and 2017, Breakin' Convention is returning to Canada and is partnering up with Civic Theatres Toronto to deliver another edition of Open Art Surgery. Open Art Surgery is a professional development opportunity for hip hop artists interested in making hip hop theatre. It combines an intensive week of training, mentoring and devising, culminating in the Open Art Surgery event.
